A stunning vintage Hermès LES ARMES DE PARIS. This scarf was designed by Hugo Grygkar, first issued in 1954, and this is the 1992 reedition. A gold and navy blue border, a cream background with gold, blue, red and grey colour. Depicting Paris city coat of Arms surrounded by its various versions over time. Gules with an azure chief strewn with fleurs-de-lys 9King’s of France coat of arms), the figure of the boat present since 1210 evokes the strategic river importance of its location. There is a phrase written in Latin “Fluctuat nec mergitur” (Ballotté par les vagues mais jamais coulé) translates to English “Tossed by the waves but never sunken”. The Story Behind: HERMÈS Copyright

Hermès began placing the copyright on its silk scarves in 1967, and it has since appeared alongside the Hermès logo. The copyright logo protects the brand’s ownership rights.

The copyright logo is a key element in identifying an authentic Hermès scarf, although counterfeits may also include this logo.

The Hermès scarf was born in 1937, but it took several decades for the copyright to be systematically included in its design.

The Copyright protects the rights of designers and artists to their works, and Hermès has since invited numerous artists to create designs for its scarves.
