Hermès Dip Dye ‘Surteint’ Brides de Gala scarf depicting two bridles, this is a much more recent edition in dip dye “surteint” wash from 2010. Brides de Gala scarf is the most iconic design, born from a collaboration with illustrator-designer Hugo Grygkar and Hermès. Brides de Gala was inspired by a harness from Émile Hermès’ personal collection. Since the first edition designed by Hugo Grygkar in 1957 and from only one drawing Hermès has already created 30 interpretations of Brides de gala including this recent 2010 dip dye scarf. The Brides de Gala has been reissued many times since 1957, 1967, 1990 and more. A ‘Must-Have’ Hermès dip dye classic iconic Brides de Gala scarf for your wardrobe!

The story behind: The dip dye refers to a specific style of Hermes silk scarf, the “Brides de Gala” design, which has been reimagined with a “dip dye” technic in French “surteint” as mentioned on the composition label. This technic involves dyeing the scarf in a way that creates a gradient or colour fade, often with a single colour gradually transitioning to white or another contrasting colour throughout the scarf. The original “Brides de Gala” design, created by Hugo Grygkar, features two horse bridles on a background, often in vibrant colours like navy blue with a flashy gold colour for the Horse bridle. The dip dye version is a contemporary interpretation of this classic design.
