A classic beautiful Hermès vintage Brides de Gala brown scarf, one of the most emblematic designs of the Hermès house. This scarf was designed by Hugo Grygkar and first issued in 1957 (for Harrods with a special label), and reedited several times, 1967, 1990s and more recently – this one is from the 1990s. A brown border, grey and gold with a soft off-white background with Horsebit equestrian design. On the right, two mermaids emerge from a cornucopia, and brandish the imperial crown. This piece kept in the Émile Hermès collection, is part of the harnesses made for the Emperor of Mexico, Maximilian of Austria. On the left, on the blinder, the coat of arms of the Counts de la Ferronnays whose collection has very beautiful pieces of harness from the 18th century. It is a beautiful classic and dramatic design. The Story behind: Hugo Grygkar was the first artist to design a Hermès scarf in 1937. It was born in Germany in 1907 to a Czech family that moved to France in 1914. Robert Dumas-Hermès developed a strong relationship with Grygkar until his death in 1959.
