This beautiful rare bag inspired from the Russian Collection – Ballets Russes Russian inspired geometric structured shape featuring a stunning Y Flap with black patent leather with patent leather trim all around and with moire red silk fabric – an mazing look an contrast! The Story Behind: YVES SAINT LAURENT RUSSIAN COLLECTION
Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) launched the iconic “Opéras et Ballets Russes” collection (often called the Russian Collection or Rich Peasant collection) in Autumn/Winter 1976. It was a groundbreaking, opulent, and highly influential haute couture collection, featuring luxurious peasant-style blouses, voluminous skirts, and rich fabrics, which debuted at the Hôtel Inter-Continental, RUBE scribe in Paris 75009. The collection was presented in late 1976 for the Fall/Winter season, with many pieces often labeled 1976-1977. The collection was heavily influenced by Russian folklore, the Ballets Russes, and the work of Léon Bakst. It was considered a major departure from contemporary fashion trends of the time, reintroducing luxury and extravagance. The collection featured Russian Cossack-style coats, silk, velvet, embroidery, and passementerie, often in bold, vibrant colours.
