These small clip-on earrings are handcrafted in rich 24k gold plated surrounded with twisted rope knot mount, set in the center with a small faux pearl. They are perfect Chanel vintage. The Story Behind: CHANEL STAMPING – MARKING
Most of the Chanel jewellery produced from 1914 until 1939 is unmarked. Some of the jewellery produced after 1939 until Coco Chanel’s death in January 1971 at the age of 87 are not marked and/or marked just with a simple word: CHANEL. CHANEL jewellery began to be stamped more consistently at the arrival of Karl Lagerfeld as Artistic Director in 1983 with the Copyright and the Registered Trademark symbols. The new stamps started with a round circle plaque with the copyright symbol ⓒ CHANEL ® CC Made in France. In the mid 1980s Karl Lagerfeld employed the highly talented Victoire de Castellane to design most of the Chanel jewellery and a new stamping design began with her collection numbers ie: 2-3 which is often mistaken for the year of production – ⓒ CHANEL ® 2 CC 3 Made in France and or just ⓒ CHANEL ® CC Made in France without the collection year. From the 1990s the stampings became more consistent with the actual year ie, 94 and which collection the item comes from: C – Cruise, P – Spring, A – Autumn etc…
