In the 1990s, British cult show Absolutely Fabulous introduced us to Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone- two outrageous ladies in love with fashion.
Patsy was a Chanel fan but Edina i-d-o-l-i-z-e-d the Arlesian designer Christian Lacroix. “I like them if they’re Lacroix,” she once declared; she also made “Lacroix, sweety” her unforgettable chant. In fact, Lacroix became so important to the plot that he was cast in multiple episodes. He was well known for designing huge costume jewellery in gold and vivid colours. They were statement pieces to add on a classic black dress or jacket.
