HERMÈS Bolide 1995 Tan Leather Bag GHW Vintage
A timeless classic vintage 1995 Hermès Bolide bag in cavalerie tan-gold colour in Courchevel leather with shoulder strap, key fob and keys. This 28 years old Bolide has kept its beautiful shape, the gold tone hardware is stunning and the Courchevel leather is in very good condition and offers a very even grain throughout with a gloss finish. The Courchevel leather is very lightweight, making it easy to carry and many tarnishes, spills, and other marks are easy to clean. The history: Emile-Maurice Hermès designed this tote bag for his wife in 1923 for an automobile event. The French fashion house replaced the old metal closures and added a zipped compartment for the first time in Hermès history. The bolide is named after the fastest cars of the 20th century. In 1916, while Hermès was traveling in North America, he came across numerous automobile factories. One thing in particular caught his eye – he saw the zipper mechanism on the top of a fabric roof and immediately acquired the patent for Hermès handbags. He added this technique to the 1923 handbags and the Bolide was born.
